Maia and the Squires is an alternative rock band based in Berlin, fronted by Argentinian singer-songwriter Maia Luker.
The band formed when Maia met guitarist Phan Anh, bassist Ulysse Zimmer, and drummer Merlin in Berlin.
Phan Anh, originally from Vietnam, brings piercing guitar riffs, Ulysse Zimmer, from Metz, brings his authentic essence to the bass, Merlin, from Hamburg, adds driving and dynamic rhythms, and Maia’s ethereal yet powerful vocals glues it all together.
Their shared passion for raw, immersive music quickly created Maia and the Squires’ signature sound.
The band first gained attention in Berlin’s indie scene after performing at Lido and Privatclub. Their breakthrough came when they played Indie In Town’s inaugural show, which led to invitations to more events and expanded their audience. Since then, they have performed at the Cool Kids Menu festival, Junction Bar, and even played in Buenos Aires. One of their most notable performances was opening for renowned Brazilian artist Jadsa at Monarch.
Beyond their live shows, Maia and the Squires are actively working on new music. Their latest release was “Pretty Now” on March 7th, with a planned schedule of monthly releases moving forward.
With a growing presence in the alternative music scene, Maia and the Squires continue to push creative boundaries, solidifying themselves as one of Berlin’s most promising indie acts.
